I’m writing papers.

I am 6 out of 8 weeks into my 2nd to last class of my masters’ degree. I had to write a long paper about my practicum project. So fun, right ladies?!?!?!

RIGHT!!!

I can’t wait til I am done with school, just to eventually start school again. But I am actually really really excited to be done, and then start pursuing my dream dream dreams!!!

I want to be like a European and work to live, and not live to work (like I’m doing right now).

In the words of RuPaul, “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you going to love somebody else, can I get an amen up in here?!?!!?”

No rupaulogies.

Guess what, it was my three year blogiversary on March 30, and I didn’t even realize. So much has changed in the past three years in my life, I will give you a brief run down of some of the major fun things…

1. Graduated from nursing school

2. Moved back to TX

3. Passed my NCLEX and became an RN

4. Enrolled in my masters degree in nursing informatics (NERD ALERT!!!)

5. Got my first RN job at MD Anderson, learned so much, and made a few really great friends

6. Bought my very own first car

7. Mason was born

8. Parker was born

9. Took an awesome Eurotrip

10. Mom lost all the lbz.

11. Finished the residency program at MD Anderson

12. Found my clinical placement for my masters degree

13. Got an RN job in SLC

14. Moved to SLC with Mickey, started my clinical, and my new job. I will graduate at the end of June!!!

15. Started living in the same town as both of my sisters for the first time since Ash was still in high school & I am loving it.

The past three years have been pretty busy, but I have mostly loved all of them. I have learned so much, and I am not the same 20 year old nursing student that I was when I started this blog. Yowza.

It’s thanks to the fam, friends, and all the PKMs out there. You mean the world to me.

So happy to be here with all of you. AND DON’T YOU FORGET IT!!!

Hello everyone. Is there anybody out there? I still have a blog. I still love to write. I am just really neglectful. I apologize.

I moved to SLC, almost 2 months ago. I live in a cool part of town. I work at a hospital here. I am working in oncology still, just a different kind then I was working with at home in TX. I am working on a Bone Marrow Transplant unit, with people who have different kinds of leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers. It’s pretty intense.

So I long for the day when I can work with mom’s and babies. It’s my one true dream.

Anyway, it’s Easter on Sunday and I am going to play the cello at church. I am so excited. I haven’t been seriously playing my cello for years. I did the university orchestra my first 2 semesters of college, but then I stopped, and haven’t really played since then. Not like I am reaching my full potential as a cellist, but I am playing and it makes me really happy.

Also I am doing my capstone so I can graduate at the end of June with my masters’ in nursing informatics. I am so looking forward to graduating and for taking my first break from school since kindergarten!!! But Lizzy and I have been talking about doing the fashion design program at Salt Lake Community College, and that would be a dream!

My time is extremely occupied. Monday and Tuesday I have my capstone, with assignments and homework throughout the week. Then I work every Wednesday – Friday nights at my nursing job. It’s pretty wild. But just till June, so I only have two more months of school and my capstone starting in April.

I am the least crafty person right now, and I haven’t sewn anything in forever. But I will start being creative once I graduate. I promise.

RIGHT LADIES!?!?! I hope all is well for anybody out there.

I resigned from MD Anderson and last Friday was my last day at work.

I am moving to Salt Lake City, UT, in 4 days.

I found a place that I am renting, which is awesome.

I got a job as a hematology oncology nurse up there. I will be starting again on the night shift. Just starting from scratch.

I should be able to complete my clinical in March, and then graduate with my master’s degree in June….hopefully. Everything is still TBD.

I am taking Mickey with me on my drive up, and Minkee will shortly follow.

Pinecone and Mom are staying home, and I am sad to leave them.

I will be minutes away from my sisters (we haven’t all lived in the same town since Ashlee  was in High School).

Luke and his family will all be living in Japan soon.

Just changes for days.

Sorry I haven’t blogged in 4VR.

It was just T-givez, Ashlee saw that I titled my post as t-givez and then saved it as a draft, and she titled her post t-givez also. BUST’d. JKDC.

I always say, “happy t-givez” and people are like, “WHAT?” and I’m like Happy Thanksgiving, DUH. Rude, they should just know what t-givez is. It’s pretty self-explanatory. Just kidding y’all.

So for T-givez I went with a girl from work, Kris, to a Thanksgiving buffet at a fancy restaurant in Houston called, Americas (with an apostrophe over the i). I told her that I wanted contemporary American food, and she saw that the title of the restaurant had America in it, so she picked Americas. Actually it is just Latin American food, and had nothing to do with North America, or contemporary North American food. But it was okay, because the food was great!!!

My mom helped me pick my outfit because, “I want you to find a young single doctor”, she said. I said, “Mom, like there are going to be any doctors there even”, and she said, “well you are going…”.

There were no doctors there, just large families that were having family togetherness. So it was a bust in that respect.

On the restaurant description on opentable.com it said that the dress was business casual, so my friend and I both wore dresses. Upon arrival at Americas we found that it was business casual optional, because there were quite a few people there wearing blue jeans. The wait staff asked us why we were dressed up, and if we were going to a party afterwards, and we said, “this is the party!”

The restaurant was awesome, the food was great, the wait staff was amazing, and it was fun to be out with Kris. But in the end I just wish I would have been with my family at home having a families Thanksgiving. How every Thanksgiving should be.

As it turns out we ate crepes and I realized that I am crepe lady. Eating crepes everywhere I go, with photo evidence and everything.

I ate crepes in Hungary, the top left picture; France, bottom left; and most recently Houston Tx at Americas, for T-givez.

Also they had these little mini deserts so good.

Sorry I have been MIA recently. THINGS HAVE BEEN CRAZY!

But, I recently got back from SLC visiting the gang. I can’t wait to move there.

My family rules.

I loved having sisters/family time and I missed it so much.

Also I am in love with Mason, I think we all are. While I was there I got to see KATIE BROWN, which was AMAZING. LOVE HER!!! BESTies 4vR. Thom thanks for making a dream dinner that night. Recently, I got to knit Mason some pretty cool stuff. I knit him a blanket and a baby’s bonnet. HOORAY for baby knits. HAPPY THORNKSGORVING!!!!

I just drink soda when I am at work to stay awake. So instead of drinking a soda a 4am when I get real tired I will just drink water or a kombucha and stretch or do something active to stay awake. I don’t need soda. ya feel me. I am serious about this changing habits biz. I had a salad for dinner and grapes as a snack. (At first I wrote grapes as a snake…grapes as a snake is funnier)…

Now I just need to stay consistent and wash the dishes or otherwise I will be in big trouble with the girls and mom….so I am going to take care of biz.

I don’t like talking about politics because that, the great pumpkin, and religion are the 3 things you don’t talk about….but I will say that I am officially registered to vote and I am so excited. This will be my first time voting and I feel great about it. I have even planned where I can cast my early vote so I can still visit the girls in the beginning of novemb. SO BLESS’d.

My diet has been…awful lately. It’s hard when you work nights. But I feel importantly about changing my diet and lifestyle. I am a nurse, I do know better. So I am extra accountable.

I started tonight, by making a low fat brocoli alfredo from scratch before work, it was very ambitious on my part. It didn’t turn out great, but it was my first alfredo. Most importantly, at least I started cooking again.

Ashlee, I started following your blog, also I am real happy that you have a blog to follow.

Better luck tomorrow on whatever get’s made then.

She deleted her facebook, and then I deleted my facebook. I wasn’t copying her….I swear.

But I am still on instagram and my username is Melysses (OF COURSE), and I am still blogging (SOMETIMES!)

I will be better. I have been going through kind of an HT (hard time). I am just learning to deal with all of the territory that comes with being an oncology nurse, the death and dying, and terminal illness stuff being an everyday occurence. It’s really rough, and let’s just say…it’s not for everyone.

But I am in my 2nd to last semester of my graduate degree, and that is pretty big news. RIGHT LADIES!?!?!

The Paris post is still in the works. I’m sorry for being a bad blogger. I still love everyone and thank you for your continued support.
